Carrie Mae Weems

Over the course of her twenty-five year career, Carrie Mae Weems has worked towards developing a complex body of art.

The American artist has at various times employed photographs, text, fabric, audio, digital images, installation, and, most recently, video. Her work has led to investigations of family relationships, gender roles, the histories of racism, sexism, class, and various political systems. The Creative Mind Initiative is happy to bring such a multidisciplinary and socially-aware artist to Brown.
